Peds: Rotation Reflection

During the site evaluation, I presented a 12 yo patient with intestinal obstruction probably secondary to obstipation. I briefly introduced the case, including name, DOB, age, sex, chief complaint, HPI, related history, physical exam, assessment, differential diagnoses, treatment, and related work-up. Then I got tested on my own pharm cards as well as other student’s pharm cards. Then I presented an article which aims to evaluate the effects of probiotics used to treat Atopic dermatitis in children. My procedure logbook was also evaluated and signed to make sure that I was doing procedures in my rotation.

The feedback that the evaluator provided for my H&P was that I should be aware of that the bowel obstruction was caused by a fecal impaction. Therefore, the manual disimpaction should be the initial treatment for this kid. The other feedback that I received was that I should had provided a more detail review of the disease during the presentation. And also I should not use medical terms in ROS and I should describe some specific information in pediatrics, such as school grade and sports.
